Speaker 1:In the lush rainforest of Madagascar, scientists have uncovered seven previously unknown tree frog species. These compact amphibians produce unusually high-pitched whistling sounds reminiscent of Star Trek sound effects such as the bosun's whistle. The new species, named after seven iconic captains from the science fiction franchise, were detailed in a study published on October 15th in the Journal of Vertebrae Zoology. These newly discovered species belong to the genus Bubus Bubus communicate with one earth through their distinctive whistling sounds. When researchers first heard the calls, they were immediately reminded of the sound effects prevalent throughout the Star Wars Star Trek series. Now one of the species, bofis ciscoe, was named after Captain Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. These frogs of the worldly calls are known as advertisement calls, a form of self-promotion that researchers believe may communicate information about a male frog's suitability as a potential mate to females. This group resides along fast-flowing streams in Madagascar's mostly mountainous areas, a noisy environment. That may be why the frogs emit such high-pitched calls. Quote. Speaker 1:On Saturday, during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con, paramount Plus announced the release date of the upcoming Star Trek Section 31 TV movie. The movie, starring Michelle Yeoh, will premiere exclusively on Paramount Plus on Friday, january 24, 2025 in the US and international markets where the service is available. Yeoh reprises her roles Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek Discovery. In Star Trek Section 31, georgiou joins the secret division of Starfleet not so secret tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets. However, she must also confront the mistakes of her past. The cast includes Sam Richardson, fen Rygrok, humberly Gonzalez and James Rorke Leo In addition to Yao, and James Horroky-Leo in addition to Yao. O'marry Hardwick, casey Roll and Robert Kuczynski. The early pickup was announced by Star Trek Universe steward Alex Kurtzman, executive producer, co-showrunner and director of Starfleet Academy, on a live stream from the series Toronto set during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday. Thank you, paramount and Plus unveiled a preview clip of the forthcoming third season of Star Trek Strange New Worlds at New York Comic Con, alongside the news that guest star Rice Darby, from Our Flag Means Death, would be aboard for the ride. Based on the years Captain Picard and Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the USSR Prize, the CBS Studios produced series follows the leader of his team, which features science officer Spock and Number One, played by Rebecca Romijn, in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the Starship, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy. While no release date is set, the new installment is set to debut in 2025. The series has already been renewed for a fourth season. The three-minute clip followed the ship outmaneuvering and eventually outpacing enemy combatants. Its release date follows an early preview shared in late July alongside the news of Cillian O'Sullivan joining as a recurring guest star in the legacy role of Dr Roger Corby. Meanwhile, details on Darby's character have yet to be revealed. The news came during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con, with a surprise panel consisting of cast members Pike and Carol Kane in conversation with executive producers and co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers. Doom seizes control of all broadcasting systems globally, prompting Earth's most heroes to respond.

After assuming the role of Sorcerer Supreme, doom maintained a low profile until February 2025, when he proclaimed himself Emperor of the World. The show revolves around a young Tony Stark and his exceptional team of best friends, riri Williams and Amadeus Cho. Additionally, marvel Comics confirmed the late release of Star Wars A New Legacy, a one-shot spotlighting fan favorite characters from various comic series, including Doctor Aphra and Ballard Vance. Renowned creators have joined forces to bring these beloved icons to life in captivating stories. Star Wars A New Legacy is set to arrive on shelves in January of 2025.

Now, while confirming the production of the eighth season, adult Swim has announced plans for seasons 10 and 9 and 10. At New York Comic Con, the beloved show revealed an unexpected development the Smith family will continue their interdimensional adventures for two additional seasons beyond season 10. This means fans can anticipate more thrilling episodes with Rick and Morty in seasons 11 and 12. Adult Swim's press release shared the news of the renewal, saying that Adult Swim has greenlit two additional seasons of Rick and Morty, ensuring the global hit comedy to reach the 12th season. Previously approved to run until season 10, adult Swim's top-rated series will now extend through 2029. Rick and Morty is constantly ranked as the number one comedy across all cable networks during Seasons 3 through 6, and has received two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
Speaker 1:Sony Pictures and Escape Artist, the producers of Marvel Masters of the Universe, are developing a live-action film based on another Mattel toy line, viewmaster. Yeah, I don't get it either. Viewmaster, the 3D image reel viewer, was introduced in 1939. The plot details are being kept under wraps, but the companies described the project as a quote four-quadrant family adventure film In a recent press release. Todd Black, jason Blumenthal, dave Tisch and Tony Schaaf's escape artists are producing the film, while Kevin McKeon, arturo Third are overseeing the project for Mattel Films. Robbie Brenner, the exec producer of Mattel Films, expressed excitement about the collaboration, saying quote.

In 2019, mattel and MGM announced a project based on the toy line alongside a film adaptation of Mattel's American Girl IP. However, the American Girl project has since been shifted to Paramount in late 2023. Now Mattel and Escape Artist are also collaborating on the upcoming Masters of the Universe live action feature film based on the toy line. That film will be produced by Mattel and Amazon MGM and stars Nicholas Galenstein, camila Mendes and Alison Brie in lead roles. Speaker 1:Monster High Director Edgar Wright's Paramount reboot, the Running man, has cast Carl Glissman, joining Glenn Powell, katie O'Brien and Daniel Ezra in the growing ensemble. Wright will produce alongside his partner, neera Park and Simon Kinberg. Co-written by Wright and Michael Bacall, the Baby Driver Filmmaker's script adapts Stephen King's Noodle novel published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The novel inspired the 1987 film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which is still one of my favorites. Who loves you and who do you love? The Running man is set for release on the Friday before Thanksgiving 2025, facing an all-face competition from Universal's Wicked Part 2, angel Studios' David and a Warner Bros movie not yet known. Notably, paramount and Universal clashed on the same holiday weekend this year with Gladiator 2 and Wicked Part 1. In a major development, josh Brolin is in talks to also star opposite Glenn Powell in the Running man, maybe as Killian, I don't know. Get ready for a thrilling Zootopia adventure.

As the investigator realized that this isolated incident is connected to a bigger case since the downfall of Mayor Bellwether, as seen in the original film. Disney's Zootopia no 1 goes on sale in January of 2025.
Speaker 1:On Friday, walt Disney Studios officially announced that its live-action take on Lilo and Stitch will be released exclusively to theaters on May 23, 2025. They showed it off with a brief teaser, which showed the film's computer-generated version of Stitch running through the frame. This will be the second major release that Disney announced for the 2025 season, with the Freaky Friday sequel, freakier Friday, confirmed to premiere in theaters on August 8th 2025. The live-action take on Lilo and Stitch has been in the works for several years now and was initially expected to premiere exclusively on Disney+ before moving to a theatrical release. And now for some great news. I love this film and I'm glad to see it's finally back in the proper hands.
Speaker 1:As the controversial Kevin Smith movie celebrates its 25th anniversary. Dogma is getting a re-release. The Views Universe director revealed that his 1999 religious satire is returning to theaters and getting a new home after another company purchased the distribution rights away from Mayor Max Quote, the movie's been bought away from the guy that had it for years and whatnot he said on the hashtag show the company that bought it. We met with them a couple of months ago. They were like would you be interested in re-releasing it, touring it like you did with your movies? I said 100. Are you kidding me? Touring a movie that I know people like and is sentimental and nostalgic will clean up Unquote. Smith went on right. Quote right now, 2024 is our 25th anniversary this year. November is when we came out. So I think 2025, it looks like, looks like is when the movement's going to happen there, back at home video, then back in theaters and we'll I'll tour it and stuff like that. Unquote Also be the first time the movie has been released on streaming since its 1999 premiere. While hard copies of the title remain a rarity, I have a couple of those. I think Dogma stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as Barnaby and Loki, two fallen angels who make their way to New Jersey because of a loophole that will get them back into heaven, although now getting back into heaven will mean unmaking the universe. The film also stars Linda Florentino, thelma Hayek, alan Rickman, chris Rock, jason Lee and Alanis Morissette, as well as Jason Mewes and Smith as Jay and Silent Bob. It was the fourth installment in Smith's View of the Universe movies, which also includes Clerks, mallrats, Chasing Amy, jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and now Clerks 2, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks 3. Smith noted that the new Dogma deal could potentially lead to sequels, tv versions, in terms of extending the story, something we could never do before. So exciting, man. All those people who worked on it are still viable.
Speaker 1:And finally, tonight the development of a Big Bang Theory spinoff series on Max at Max is underway, with the first three cast members announced. Brian Posain, lauren Lapikas and Kevin Sussman will reprise the roles from the original series in the potential spinoff. Plot details are, of course, confidential, but the show remains in development and has not yet received the go-ahead to become a full series. Posain, sussman and Lapkus are currently under talent holding deals. Chuck Lorre, the co-creator of the Big Bang Theory, is the executive producer behind the new project through his production company, chuck Lorre Productions.
Speaker 1:Sussman portrayed Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner, and made his debut in the second season, eventually becoming a series regular, appearing in over 80 episodes. Bozane played Bert Kibler, the geologist at Caltech who had a crush on Amy, appearing in 15 episodes from season six onwards, and Lapkus took on the role of Denise, the assistant manager of Stewart's comic book store and Stewart's eventual love interest, appearing in 8 episodes through seasons 11 and 12. This potential spinoff, if it will materialize, would be the fourth series in the Big Bang Theory cinematic universe. The original show ran successfully for 12 seasons on CBS. Its prequel, young Sheldon, wrapped up its seventh season run in this past May and the spinoff of Young Sheldon, george and Mandy's First Marriage, just premiered, and with that we'll end our show for today.
