If you're looking for a roundup of geeky news, you're in the right place. This is Multiverse Tonight, and here's your host, thomas Townley. Well, hello everyone, and welcome to episode 232 of Multiverse Tonight. I'm, of course, your host, thomas Townley, and, uh, well, the snow's finally melted. That's a good thing. Uh, we've had snow on the ground for several weeks now, uh, with cold temperatures just keeping that snow on the ground, but it's finally, finally, uh, pretty much all melted away, except for a patch here or there. So that's good. I've been keeping myself busy Work. They're going to start a remodel at my job, excuse me, so I have that to look forward to. But in the meantime I do have some goodies. I bought the complete series of WKRP in Cincinnati for a good deal. That's one of my favorite old 80s shows. That's Comfort Food and this released from Shop Factory.
Speaker 1:They were able to get the rights to, I think, 99% of all the songs that were originally on there, because originally there was pop music, the original songs all the recording artists, but when it went to syndication, of course those cost money, so they had to take those out and put in kind of sound-alike tracks and it just doesn't pair well. So I'm happy to have that. I also have that I also. So let's go on to the legal news. It's Marvel news, so let's just say it's Marvel news. And we begin this news with the fallout radius of the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal battle continuing to spread. Now it's drawn in Marvel president Kevin Feige, disney CEO Bob Iger and director Tim Miller into the latest part of the drama. On January 7th, baldoni's lawyer, brian Friedman, sent a litigation hold letter to Feige and Eiger in connection with his client's anticipated claims against Ryan Reynolds, lively and other unnamed parties. Variety has viewed a copy of the letter, which calls on the us. The film At the Center of the Lively Baldoni Rift was released by Sony and has nothing to do with Disney, but Baldoni's attorneys believe that Lively's husband, ryan Reynolds, was flagrantly mocking Baldoni in a sequence in Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine, which was released by Disney back in July. The sequence features Reynolds playing Nicepool, an ophage, alternate version of the eponymous hero Deadpool, saying such lines as Wearing God's name as the intimacy coordinator and complimenting Ladypool for snapping back into shape after giving birth. Lively, who cameoed in the tent pool. As Ladypool recently accused Baldoni of sexually harassing and fat-shaming her postpartum body on the set of it Ends With Us. When Deadpool points out Nice Pool's misogyny on the screen, the latter replies it's okay. Identify as a feminist. During the development, production and marketing of it Ends With Us, a drama about domestic violence, baldoni often talented his credentials as a feminist and ally to women. Marvel and Disney declined the comment. As an attorney for Ryan Rilson, lively Friedman could not be reached for comment. It's believed to be one of the many industry figures whose home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire that's still raging.
Speaker 1:The litigation hold letter sent the day the fires began. Calls for Marvel and Disney to preserve quote any and all documents relating to the development of the Nice Pool character, as well as communications relating to the development, writing and filming of storylines and scenes featuring Nice Pool. The letter is also calling for the studio to retain of all the documents relating to and or reflecting a deliberate attempt to mock, harass, ridicule, intimidate or bully Baldoni through the character of Nicepool. Now Reynolds, who is a writer, producer and star of Deadpool and Wolverine has never addressed if there is a connection between Nicepool and Baldoni, even as fans speculated about just that long before the current legal clash between the parties. That spawned three lawsuits to date and nine others sued the New York Times for $250 million over its story. That relied heavily on a letter filed with the California Civil Rights Department by Lively that accused the director of sexual harassment and carrying out a retaliatory online campaign. The group accused the Times of cherry-picking and doctoring communications stripped of necessary context and deliberately spliced to mislead. The complaint also claims that Lively was the one who embarked on a strategic and manipulative smear campaign of her own and used false allegations to assert unilateral control over every aspect of the production.
Speaker 1:During an appearance on the Megyn Kelly Show on January 7th, friedman referenced the nice, cool character saying quote there's no question it relates to Justin. I mean anybody that watched that hair bun, friedman said. He also questions why Reynolds would use his wife's alleged sexual harassment for comedic fodder. If quote, if somebody is seriously sexually harassed, you don't make fun of it. It's a serious issue, friedman added. The litigation hold letter, which was written ahead of the anticipated claims related to Reynolds and Lively's torturous interference with contract and evil extortion goes well beyond the Nice Pool character and implies that a Lively-Baldoni-style rift exists between Reynolds and Miller, who directed the first Deadpool movie but did not return for the sequel, or Deadpool and Wolverine but did not return for the sequel or Deadpool and Wolverine. The letter instructs the studio to preserve any documents and data relating to complaints made against Ryan Reynolds by any person, including, without limitation, tim Miller and Miller's departure from the film Deadpool 2, as well as any insistences of Reynolds exerting creative control of any film project.
Speaker 1:A litigation holder often precedes litigation. Baldoni has not sued Lively or Reynolds, but Friedman has indicated a suit is imminent, telling Kelly that he plans to sue the Hollywood power couple into oblivion, while in publication of the Times story, baldoni was dumped by WME, the agency shared with Lively and Reynolds. Wme also reps Miller. Now let's go on to the DC News and we begin DC Comics News with.

Fans can expect a thrilling and thought-provoking story that will push Superman to his limits and explore the complex implications of a world awash in kryptonite.
Speaker 1:While filming having recently commenced on Supergirl Women of Tomorrow, it was only a matter of time before more information about the DC Universe film was revealed, and that includes casting updates. Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the DC Studios film has added David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham to the cast of Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow as Corizor Oil's parents. Krumholtz and Beecham join the previously announced Millie Alcock as Supergirl and Eve Riley and Matthias Schwarz with Jason Momoa set to appear as Lo-O. While reports that Krummholtz and Beecham will play Kara's parents, the report wasn't exactly clear on which set of the titular heroine's parents they'll be portraying.
Speaker 1:Generally, in comics, kara Zor-El, like her cousin Kal-El Superman, was sent to Earth with the destruction of Krypton imminent. As a child, however, kara's ship experienced a difficulty and led to her late arrival on Earth, with her baby cousin, now all grown up On Earth. Kara was adopted by Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers. This means that, technically, kara has two sets of parents her Kryptonian biological parents, zor-el and Allura, and her adoptive parents. Now, given that Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow is set to be based on the DC comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Billquist Evley, which sees Kara, who is celebrating her 21st birthday, traveling across the galaxy and encountering a young girl who is on a quest for revenge, it seems likely that Krumholtz and Beecham are playing Zor-El and Allura. The Supergirl Wonder Woman comic generally explores Kara's trauma and experience, making her memories of her biological parents feel like a good fit to the overall story of the film. Supergirl Women of Tomorrow is directed by Craig Gillespie with a script by Anna Nogura.
Speaker 1:Now let's finish off with some more Marvel news, and Marvel News continues with Regal Cinemas now offering exclusive DLC for Marvel Rivals players. This exclusive bundle is available for those who purchase tickets to Captain America Brave New World before the end of the opening weekend, which ends on February 17th. The DLC is available for those who are a Regal Crown Club member, which is a free membership that gives members credits for tickets, concessions and merchandise. To sign up for the membership, head on over to Regal's website Now.
Speaker 1:Marvel Rivals hasn't been around during Marvel's season release, so this will be interesting to see how the box office numbers might fluctuate, given the rise in the game's popularity. The overwhelming support for the superhero shooter has been rising over the last week since the season one launch. With over 400,000 players entering the multiverse regularly, the superhero fatigue looks to be turning over a new leaf. The game has seen its connections to the MCU, with several players sporting Marvel Studio-themed skins, heroes such as Black Widow, mantis and Star-Lord, scarlet, witch, wolverine and many more sport looks from the Marvel Studio Films. Seeing the upcoming slate, we could see costumes for the Winter Soldier, the Punisher, mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman for projects such as Thunderbolts, daredevil Born Again and the Fantastic Four.
Speaker 1:First Steps, the start of Marvel-Rivals collaborations is slowly taking shape as the game continues to ride the currents of the mainstream landscape. Recently, marvel Rivals partnered with Insomniac Studios to bring a costume based on PlayStation's Marvel Superman 2. This collab will pair nicely, considering voice actor Yuri Lowenthal voices Spider-Man in both iterations. Regardless, it wouldn't be surprising to see more Marvel-based projects collaborating with Marvel rivals. Marvel Studios' Captain America, brave New World releases in theaters on my birthday, february 14th, and you know what would go well on my birthday If you would go over to ko-ficom slash multiverse and support me. It would be greatly appreciated. How's that for a plug?
Speaker 1:Charlie Cox has recently confirmed that the second season of the much-anticipated Daredevil Born Again will commence filming by the spring season. Even before the first season graces television screens, this revelation has stirred excitement among fans, especially considering Cox's enthusiasm to reprise the role of Daredevil after the show's abrupt cancellation in 2018. However, cox also displays a pragmatic awareness that this resurgence might not be indefinite. The original Daredevil series, which garnered a massive following, was a collaborative deal between Netflix and Disney. Unfortunately, this partnership faltered in 2018, leading to the cancellation of Daredevil and other Marvel shows hosted on the Netflix platform. Following this, the rights to these beloved characters reverted back to Marvel Studios. This transition paved the way for Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, who portrayed Kingpin, to make appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, keeping the characters' presence alive. The forthcoming Daredevil Born Again series is generating considerable buzz due to the return of many original cast members who resonate with the audience. Their return promises a sense of continuity and nostalgia. Additionally, the series is introducing new additions to the cast, including noble actors like Margarita Livia and Nicky James, who are expected to infuse fresh energy and dynamics into the show.
Speaker 1:Let's hit some Star Wars news, roger roger. Star Wars news begins with Marvel Comics. Marvel is relaunching its Star Wars ongoing series by pivoting it to the time period during the New Republic, right after the events of Return of the Jedi. Recognizable characters like Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo will continue to star in the title written by Los Angeles Times Book Prize winner and best-selling author, alex Segura, with art by Phil Nodo. Segura and Nodo are no strangers to the world of Star Wars, with Segura having written a novel focused on Poe, dameron and the Battle of Jakku, limited series of comics, and Nodo providing covers for various Star Wars projects and Noto providing covers for various Star Wars projects. The next iteration of Star Wars publishing fills the gaps between Star Wars, Return of the Jedi and Star Wars the Force Awakens, totaled across three intertwined limited series, all tied to the Battle of Jakku, insurgency, rising Republic Under Siege and Last Stand. Star Wars no 1 goes on sale May 7th, just in time for Star Wars Day.
Speaker 1:Now let's head on over to the Geek News. Yeah, no Star Trek news today, but I would like to throw out that I watched the first 25 minutes of the Star Trek Section 31 online movie on Paramount+. Oh, it's awful, folks. You know I like the character fine. Discovery wasn't my favorite, but you know it was still okay. This is horrible One. You can tell where the story goes without, you know, even needing to see the rest of it, you can tell where it goes.
Speaker 1:And the characters are just god awful. It's like they just grate on your nerves. So yeah, take it from me Do not watch Star Trek, section 31. Demand better Star Trek.
Speaker 1:Anyway, netflix boo is raising prices on subscription plans in the US and other territories. The company's low cost tier, with advertising, is going to $7.99 a month in the US, up from the $6.99 level where it started in 2022. The standard plan, which is the most popular, will now be $17.99, up from $15.49. The top-tier premium plan will rise $2 to $24.99. Will rise $2 to $24.99. There will be no change to the $6.99 charge to add another subscriber to the ad tier as part of the company's paid password sharing plan. I'm not really a subscriber to Netflix anymore. I'll get it once in the blue moon if there's a lot of stuff there built up that I want to watch, but for the most part, I don't need it.
Speaker 1:On to other news Francesca Gregorini, the director and writer of the 2013 film the Truth About Emmanuel, has initiated a lawsuit against M Night Shyamalan, the director of the Apple TV Plus show Servant, and Apple Incorporated. The law claims that Servant plagiarized significant elements from Gregorini's film and she's seeking a substantial sum of $81 million in damages. Gregorini's legal team contends that both the truth about Emmanuel and Servant share a central plot point A mother who's experiencing a delusion that a doll is her real baby and a nanny who participates in this delusion. They maintain the mother's fragile mental state. They argue that this striking similarity, combined with other shared elements, constitutes copyright infringement. Shyamalan's defense, however, rests on the assertion that Tony Bagsgallup, the true creator of Servant, had been developing the show's concept years before the Truth About Manuel was ever released. They maintain that neither Shaman nor anyone else involved in the production of Servant had any knowledge of or access to Gregorini's film during the development process.
Speaker 1:The trial proceedings will necessitate a thorough examination of both works by the court. This will likely involve watching both the Truth About Manuel and Servant in their entirety, as well as hearing testimony from Shyamalan Bagsgallup and, potentially, other individuals involved in the creation of both projects. For Gregorini to prevail in this lawsuit, she'll need to provide compelling evidence that demonstrates not only a substantial similarity between the two works, but also that the defendants had access to her film and drew inspiration from it. This will likely involve expert testimony of the nature of copyright law and the creative process, as well as a detailed analysis of the similarities and differences between the two works. Of the similarities and differences between the two works. Interestingly, both sides have attempted to leverage their clients' backgrounds to garner sympathy and support. Gregorini's attorney has emphasized her clients' humble beginnings and portrayed Shyamalan and Apple as industry giants with immense power and resources. Shyamalan's attorney, on the other hand, has highlighted his clients' own rise from humble beginnings to success, while portraying Gregorini as an opportunist seeking to capitalize on Shyamalan's fame and fortune. The trial is anticipated to span approximately two weeks, during which the court will hear arguments and evidence for both sides before ultimately rendering a decision on whether Servant infringed on the copyright of the truth of Val Emmanuel or whether Gregorini is entitled to damages she seeks. The outcome of this case might have significant implications for the entertainment industry, particularly regarding the boundaries of copyright protection and the extent of which creators can draw inspiration from existing works.
Speaker 1:Nominations for the 97th Annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday morning, with Emilia Perez, a Complete Unknown and Conclave, at the top of the heap in overall nods. This comes after nominations were delayed twice due to the ongoing Los Angeles-area wildfires. Leading the pack in overall nominations, with 13 total, is Emilia Perez, a crime musical centering around a cartel leader who has transitioned. The achievement is just one nomination shy of tying the record for overall nominations for a single film. Titanic, all About Eve and La La Land all received 14. Actress Carlos Sofia Gascon, playing the titular role, made Oscar history by being the first transgender woman to be nominated in any acting category. She joins a competitive field that also includes Cynthia Erivo from Wicked and Demi Moore, whose performance in the bloody body horror hit the Substance has stirred up conversation on the industry's mistreatment of women of an age. Both Moore and the film itself were expected to get nominations in the top Oscar categories. Behind Amelia Perez in overall nominations were the Brutalist and Wicked, which each received 10 nominations. All three, along with the Substance, were among the 10 nominated for the Best Picture Award, where they were joined by A complete unknown Conclave Anora Dune, bartu, nickel Boys and I'm Still here.
Speaker 1:Amelia Perez won four Golden Globes earlier this month, including Best Motion Picture, musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress. For Zoe Zaldana's performance, the Brutalist, a 215-minute epic about a Holocaust survivor who emigrates to America post-World War II, won Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture Drama, and lead actor Adrian Brody also won a Golden Globe. Both Saldana and Brody were nominated in their respective Oscar categories. As of now, the Oscars are scheduled to be handed out on March 2nd at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and we'll include a full list of nominees in our show notes. And we'll include a full list of nominees in our show notes. Conversely, the 45th annual Razzie Award winners will be announced in a video press release on Oscar Eve, saturday.
Speaker 1:March 4th and there is a wide range of nominees. Now Joker Fola Adu leads the Razzie Award nominations, which recognizes the worst movies and performance of the year, garnering a total of seven mentions. Borderlands, madam Web, megalopolis and Reagan followed with six nominations apiece, and Unfrosted landed with four noms, while the Crow nabbed two noms. Four noms, while the Crow nabbed two noms. Among the actors receiving mentions were Joaquin Phoenix, cate Blanchett, lady Gaga and John Voight, one of President Donald Trump's newly appointed ambassadors to Hollywood, who was nominated for his performances in a near-record four films in one year.
Speaker 1:I will include a list of nominees which also includes Borderlands Jack Black for Dear Santa, cate Blanchett for Borderlands I mean, it is an absolute, wonderful list of just the worst Hollywood has to offer. Well, some sad news. French-american filmmaker Jeannot Schwartz, best known for directing Jaws 2, the 1984 version of Supergirl and the movie Somewhere in Time, has passed away at the age of 87. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Schwartz's death by his son, chacha Schwartz, who is also a film editor. Along with directing feature films, he also applied his talents to the small screen, directing episodes of Grey's Anatomy, smallville and the Practice. James Seymour shared consultations for the passing of Geno Schwartz on her Facebook page. Schwartz directed Seymour and Christopher Ree for the passing of Jeannot Schwartz on her Facebook page.
Speaker 1:Schwartz directed Seymour and Christopher Reeve in 1980's. Somewhere in Time, a time-traveling romantic fantasy film Quote. Today we say goodbye to a true visionary. Jeannot Schwartz was not just a brilliant director, but a kind and generous soul. He gifted us many timeless stories, including Somewhere in Time, a film that changed my life forever. May his memory be a blessing and may his artistry live on in our hearts". Other movie projects helmed by Jeannot Schwartz include 1982's Enigma starring Martin Sheen, 1984's Supergirl starring Helen Slater and 1985's Santa Claus, the Movie, starring David Hiddleston and Dudley Moore. As for television, his resume spans drama to superhero affairs, having done dramas like Jag and Without a Trace on CBS, the Practice and Grey's Anatomy on ABC and Bones on Fox, as well as the DC superhero show Smallville on the WB. He also helmed multiple episodes of these shows alongside Ally McBeal, cold Cases, heroes and Supernatural Again. Jeannot Schwartz was 87 years old.
Speaker 1:Next up, bob Uecker, the Baseball Hall of Fame player who spent 54 years as the Milwaukee Brewers' play-by-play man and starred in the 1980s sitcom Mr Belvedere and had a memorable role in the movie Major League and in Miller Lite ads, died at the age of 90. His family said Uker had battled small cell lung cancer since early 2023. Cancer since early 2023. The Brewers announced the news saying in part Uke was the light of the Brewers, the soundtrack of our summers, the laughter in our hearts, and his passing is a profound loss. He was the heart and soul of Wisconsin and a dear friend. He was a national treasure, unquote, now known for his often self-deprecating wit and warm smile.
Speaker 1:Uker had an uneventful six-year Major League Baseball career with the Brewers and three other teams in the 1960s. He also worked briefly as a scout before joining the Atlanta Braves broadcast team for two seasons. He began his legendary run as the Brewers announcer in 1971 and also called National Network Games. He was the fourth longest tenured announcer in Major League Baseball history and was inducted into the inaugural class of the Brewers' Wall of Fame in 2014. Marsha hired Debonair English housekeeper Lynn Belvedere, who is proficient at cooking, cleaning and solving the family's problems. Airing mostly on Friday nights, the comedy never made the primetime year-end top 30 in the three-network universe but lasted six seasons. During the show's run.
Speaker 1:He also played Harry Doyle, the put-upon home-run announcer in the 1989 movie Major League, starring Charlie Sheen, tom Berenger and others. After the big league pitch by Sean's hot prospect, ricky Wild, thing Vaughn goes all the way to the backstop. Doyle says just a bit outside. He tried the corner with it. He reprised the role in 1994's Major League II and 1998's Major League Back to the Miners.
Speaker 1:He also made an appearance in the then World Wrestling Federation. Back in the 80s, Uyghur served as a special guest ring announcer for the epic battle between WWE champion Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant in WrestleMania 3, which was by far the biggest match of the era, and at WrestleMania 4 he had an encounter between Uyghur and Andre the Giant, which was one of the best enduring images of the WWE back in the 80s. For that lasting impression Ueber left during those major events, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010. He was also a pitch man for several memorable Miller Lite ads during the 1980s. In one, he boasts about how being an ex-Big Bleer means quote getting freebies to the game called the front office bingo Unquote. After plunking down his field side seat, an usher tells him quote, you're on the wrong seat, buddy, come on. To which Euchre replies oh, I must be in the front row. Cut to a shot of Euchre standing alone amid empty seats at the top of the stadium. Euchre's charm and versatile humor was perfect for late-night talkers and he was a guest on shows hosted by Johnny Carson, david Lehrman, jay Leno, bob Costas and others. He also hosted episodes of Saturday Night Live, the Midnight Special, and appeared on WrestleMania game shows, documentaries and other programs. He is survived by his wife, judy, and his daughter Sue Ann and son Bob Jr.
Speaker 1:And finally, tonight, david Lynch, the influential director known for his unique and surrealistic films and TV shows, including Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks, has passed away at the age of 78. His death was confirmed via his official Facebook page, where his family wrote is with deep regret that we, his family, announced the passing of the man and artist David Lynch. He would appreciate some privacy at this time. There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us, but, as he would say, keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole. It's a beautiful day, with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.
Speaker 1:Lynch's almost 50-year cinematic career was distinguished by a series of distinctive, highly stylized films that often featured surreal situations, fragmented timelines and supernatural elements. It was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2006 and an honorary Oscar in 2019 for a Lifetime of Artistic Accomplishment. In 2024, lynch announced that he had been diagnosed with emphysema after years of smoking and that he was largely housebound due to the risk of contracting COVID-19. After sharing the news, lynch assured his supporters that he planned to keep working, writing and despite his diagnosis. Lynch assured his supporters that he planned to keep working, writing and despite his diagnosis. I am filled with happiness and I will never retire.
Speaker 1:Born in Missoula, montana, in 1946, lynch spent his childhood moving to different parts of the US due to his father's job as a research scientist for the US Department of Agriculture. Although he never achieved fame as a filmmaker, although he achieved fame as a filmmaker, lynch started his career as a painter and visual artist, studying at Washington DC's Cochran School of the Arts and Design, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and finally at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. It was in Philadelphia. In addition to starring a family, lynch first started experimenting with filmmaker, inspired by his idea of making his paintings moved. I was painting and the painting, as I said before, I was painting very dark paintings and I saw some little part of this figure move and I heard a wind and I really wanted those things to move and have a sound with them, and so I started making an animated film as a moving painting. And that was it, he said.
Speaker 1:Lynch's early experiments with the medium reflected his penchant for strange subject matter and creative visuals. His first short, six Men Getting Sick Six Times, is an experimental animation featuring figures vomiting in sequence. In 1970, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, where he enrolled in the American Film Institute Conservatory and starred work on his first feature film, the cult classic Eraserhead. A kind of body horror meets parenthood drama flick. The black-and-white film was released in 1977 and has screened for years as a midnight feature. Lynch followed up Razorhead with the commercial hit the Elephant man, starring John Hurt as Joseph Merrick and Dune, the widely panned adaptation of Frank Herbert's science fiction novel, which has become a cult classic in geek circles. I still watch it every now and then. His next feature film, blue Velvet, features many of the themes that recur throughout his work a dreamlike plot involving sex and violence, a suburban setting that belies the seedy underworld beneath, and performances by frequent Lynch collaborators Colin McLaughlin and Laura Dern.
Speaker 1:In 1990, lynch debuted both Wild at Heart, a romantic crime film starring Dern and Nicolas Cage that took home the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and Twin Peaks, one of the most impactful works of his career, the cult classic TV show that featured McLaughlin as a courteous but eccentric FBI agent investigating the mysterious murder of homecoming queen in the quaint fictional town of Twin Peaks. The show's first season received 14 Emmy nominations, although it was canceled after just two seasons. The series has been sized as one of the most influential TV shows of all time, a genre-bending career. In the last 20 years, lynch took something of a prolonged hiatus from filmmaking. His last feature film, 2006, inland Empire, is a psychological thriller starring Dern Jeremy Irons and Justin Theroux. In the interim, he has helmed many shorts and music videos, including ones for Interpol and Nine Inch Nails. In 2017, lynch debuted the long-awaited third season of Twin Peaks, called Twin Peaks to Return.
Speaker 1:Set 25 years after the original series, and although he is best known as a filmmaker, lynch continued to paint. That started his career as an artist and dabbled in music, releasing a rock album called Blue Bob in 2001, an EP called this Train in 2011, and a Modern Blues album called the Big Dream in 2013. He told in an interview with the New York Times quote I only wanted to ever be a painter, but painting led into filmmaking. I all say I go where the ideas take me. Unquote.
Speaker 1:Another through line that defined Lynch was his commitment to the transcendental meditation, which, according to the website for the David Lynch Foundation, is a quote technique, practiced 20 minutes twice a day while staying comfortably with the eyes closed. In a statement on the site, the filmmaker wrote that he started the practice in 1973 and has not missed a single meditation every day, twice a day, every day. Speaking with Walter in 2018, the director said that, despite their sometimes morbid subject joy, the ultimate source of his film was ultimately joy, quote the thing is, if you get an idea that you love and you want to realize it, then the trip of realizing it should be joyful and results should be joyful. He said, happiness is not a new car, it's the doing of the work. If you like the doing, the result will be a joy. He also had a bit part on the Seth MacFarlane series, the Cleveland Show, as the bartender, so you know, big, remembering David Lynch was 78 years old.
